| It is very essential for every individual to take up an exercise regimen due to our changing job environment. Most of us living in cities spend time seated at desks. Very few people have jobs which demand physical activity like the past. All this leads to postural dysfunction and disease due to reduced physical activity, thus increasing the need for exercise. But exercise need not always mean going to the gym. It could mean playing football with your son, going for a walk with your wife or any physical activity you enjoy provided you are consistent and regular. |

| One must always prioritize the components of fitness to achieve high fitness levels. Flexibility and stability must always be given priority over strength and power. This is so because if your flexibility and core stability is weak - your strength will suffer. When flexibility is improved, muscle balance is restored in the musculoskeletal system. Stability provides a strong base for movement and thus reduces the chance of injuries. Strength building comes in next, after stability, where functional exercises help to improve activities in daily living and sport. Finally comes Power, which is essential for sports performance or jobs requiring high levels of power. Back |
